TORO PARK, Monterey County — October 30, 2026. Spartan has announced a new May 29–30, 2027 event weekend at Toro Park east of Monterey, offering a variety of obstacle-course and trail-running races. This is a newly scheduled 2027 event, separate from the county-permitted Spartan weekend that took place in May 2026.
Which races appear on the official calendar?
Spartan’s published 2027 Monterey schedule lists a Super 10K with 25 obstacles on Saturday, May 29, a Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles on Sunday, May 30, and children’s races ranging from 1 km to 3 km during the weekend. Its separate Spartan Trail organizer page also lists 10K, half-marathon and marathon distances on May 30. These details describe the organizer’s current plan and may change before the event.
What about prices and registration?
The organizer currently advertises starting online prices from about $159 for the Super, $136 for the Sprint and $32 for children’s events. These are a snapshot of advertised starting levels, not a guaranteed final price for every heat, participant or booking date. Applicable fees, discounts and availability must be read on the organizer’s current registration page. California58 has not booked or reserved any places.
Will Toro Park close to the public?
The official race listing establishes intended 2027 dates but does not by itself prove that Monterey County has issued a final 2027 special-event permit or confirmed specific public trail closures, parking arrangements or neighborhood road restrictions. In 2026, the county approved separate event plans that temporarily closed park areas and used shuttle parking at Laguna Seca. Those arrangements should not automatically be assumed for the 2027 edition.
How should neighbors prepare?
Residents who live near Toro Park and families who plan to visit over Memorial Day weekend can watch the Monterey County Parks special events calendar and county permit announcements as May 2027 approaches. Athletes should check the organizer for heat times, course maps, refunds and registration rules. The site’s stated race-location address is 1021 Monterey Salinas Highway, Salinas; the county’s general park visitor entrance is commonly listed separately as 501 Monterey Salinas Highway 68, so directions should be confirmed for the assigned event gate.

Editor’s note: This is a separate scheduled event from the May 2026 race. 2027 county permits and parking impacts remain to be confirmed; advertised dates and prices are subject to change.
